Safety Centre
Talk freely. Stay safe.
YooTalk is built for real-time conversation, and we take the responsibility that comes with it seriously. Here are the tools you have and the tips we recommend.
In danger right now?
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. YooTalk cannot dispatch emergency help. After you are safe, report the account in the app so we can act on it. If you are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to a local crisis line, such as those listed at findahelpline.com.
Your safety tools
Report
Tap ⋯ on any profile, room, live stream, video, comment or message and choose Report. Reports go to our human safety team, 24/7. The person you report is not told who reported them.
Block
Block anyone from their profile or from a room. They can no longer message you, call you or see your activity. You can unblock people at any time from your settings.
Message requests
Messages from people you do not follow land in a separate requests inbox. Nothing reaches your main inbox until you choose to reply.
Private rooms
Hosts can make a room private with a 4-digit code, use approve-to-join seating, lock and mute seats, and appoint up to 10 admins.
Moderation
Uploaded videos are checked by automated moderation. Our team reviews reports and removes content that breaks the Community Guidelines.
Verified badges
A blue tick means we have verified a creator’s identity. Be careful with anyone claiming to be someone famous without one.
Tips for everyone
- Keep personal details private: your address, school or workplace, phone number and financial information.
- Never send money, gift cards or coins to someone because they asked you to in a private message.
- Be wary of anyone who asks to move the conversation to another app quickly.
- You never have to turn your camera on. Leave a room the moment it feels wrong.
- YooTalk staff will never ask for your password or one-time login code.
- Coins and gifts have no cash value to buyers. Anyone promising to “double your coins” is a scammer.
For parents and guardians
YooTalk is for people aged 18+. It includes live audio and video with strangers, virtual gifts paid for with real money, and creator earnings, so it is not designed for children or teenagers.
- Use your device’s parental controls (Google Family Link, Apple Screen Time) to restrict app installs and in-app purchases.
- If you believe a child is using YooTalk, report the account in the app or email safety@yootalk.live. We will review and remove underage accounts.
- Read our Child Safety Standards to see how we fight child sexual abuse and exploitation.
